The prehistoric museum in Halle(Saale) is home to one of the most important archaeological finds in human history, the Nebra Hoard, which contains the Nebra Sky Disc.
The Nebra Sky Disc is mankind's first concrete depiction of the heavens.

A Rencay DiRECT 24k³ camera system has recently been used to photographically record the objects. The images with GigaPixel resolution are used for research purposes. In addition, other methods such as Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) and Focus Stacking are used to visualise the finest structures.

The museum displays exhibits from 400,000 years of human history and is always worth a visit.
